Fear

Most fear is merely a concern that we will be denied a certain, predetermined kind of happiness. That fear is 100% false and so is the predetermined idea of happiness we have attached it to.

The True Self

The True Self is that which was there before you ever had a single idea. It remains there, unaffected, pure and true and "good." It is yours to know only when you are willing to let go of everything that it is not.

Hatred

While Love can be of either kind, hatred is always false.

Managing the Unmanageable

Some seek what they call the middle, in an attempt to manage the unmanageable, and mistakenly call that prudence.

More Expectations

Expecting a monumental change as a result of your work and insight is exactly why it never seems to come.

Responsibility

Ultimately each of us is responsible for our own spiritual condition. It is a mistake to place that responsibility upon another, whether they invite it or not.

Knowing Reality

How will you ever know Reality in its pure, everlasting beauty when you insist on defining it with your own ideas?

Learning

Take more seriously the experience of the fool, than the wisdom of the scholar.

Being hard on yourself is being high on yourself.

Dissatisfaction is a cause, not a result.

The False Self

The false self is highly adaptive, it will take on any face that it can own- even a spiritual-looking face.

Fresh Air

Letting go is the end of struggle. It is the breath of fresh air that saves us from a life of suffocating demands and expectations.

Who dares to take such a risk, to breath new air?

The Irony of Resistance

In resisting pain and suffering, we actually prolong and intensify it. This is an ironic subconscious phenomenon that keeps us from waking up.

Winning

Man wants to win far more than he wants Truth. In fact, most men search for Truth for no other purpose than to win it for themselves. This is an utterly futile endeavor.

Character

Man's character is not intrinsic. Character has nothing to do with True Nature. Character is nothing more than a costume and a role which has been imposed upon him by the universal flow. That does not make it it any less pertinent, it just makes it less personal than he wishes it to be.

Man makes the mistake of looking for happiness in what he calls his character.

Psychology

Man incorrectly relies on psychology to develop his spirituality. This is because psychology can be owned, whereas true spirit cannot. He does not want to find what he cannot own.

Slight-of-Hand

The reason slight-of-hand tricks work is because the audience deeply and secretly enjoys the entertainment of being fooled.

Bravery of the Highest Order

Letting go is the only noble action, and it is bravery of the highest order.

Something Altogether New

Man seeks to verify what he already believes or wants to believe and calls that a search for Truth. So in this way, it is quite unfortunate when he finds what he is looking for. The real victory would be if he found something altogether new.

To Truly See

If you are to truly see, you must stop looking for what you want.

Reason

Man has been given the gift of reason but has lost the power to use it. Instead he acts in his own best interest, whether it be reasonable or not- and calls it reason.

What to do Next

Ironically, man's deep worry about "what to do next" becomes the dictator of what he does next. In other words, his insistence upon freedom of choice becomes the very captor that prevents it.

Changing How You Act

You can only change how you see, nothing else. All changes in the course of human behavior come only from seeing anew. To see as you now see is to act as you now act.

But do not think that you can control your behavior by forcing new sight, that would simply be another sleeping endeavor.

What is Free Will?

You have mistaken control for free will. To control is to be controlled, and no freedom is possible in this idea. Free will is simply the state of freedom. It occurs when you see that there is nothing free about your will.

Interest in Truth

Too often Man's interest in Truth is tied to his belief that it will solve his human problems.

This is exemplified by his impatience and waning interest as Truth tries to show him he has no real problems at all.

Spirituality

Spirituality is at best, analogous to Truth.

Existence

Even the statement by a man that "we do not exist" is an attempt to exist.

Existence, as man understands it, is irrelevant. Why worry about it?

Do Not Seek Truth

Do not seek Truth- that is unnecessary, it is everywhere.

Seek instead to understand the illusion that impedes Truth.

Fixing Your Broken Self

The soul is perfect, untainted, and unaffected by anything. It is only the idea of "you" which is excitable, breakable and controlled by outer circumstance.

The solution is not to fix, but to let go of that idea.

Science & Spirit

Science and Spirit are the same. They only appear separate when man attempts to use one, the other to his selfish advantage.

When you see and judge, you have not seen. But see that you have not seen and you are off to a good start!

Implication

Truth has no implication whatsoever.

Confusion

Confusion does not come from contradiction, it comes from ideas of contradiction. It comes from wanting to believe one thing and being presented another. If you had no preference, you would have no confusion.

Expectations

When you clear the expectation, new sight is possible. It is like this in everything, not just in seeking Truth. Let that be a wonderful lesson in oneness. The truth works exactly the same way in practical matters as it does in matters of the soul. How can that not be exciting to see?

Behavior

Behavior cannot be changed, it is the behaver that must change.

The behaver, however, because of its nature, cannot change itself. It can only see its limited ability and allow something beyond itself to change its nature.

Understanding

How can you understand another when you do not understand yourself?

Self Improvement

When you do not know the true self, and instead believe the illusion of your self, then self-improvement is not possible. All you will improve is the illusion.

Real self-improvement is to finally see the illusion.

Free Will

How can you have free will when you are not free?

A Better Life

Do not chase another's description of a better life, no matter how spiritual it sounds, you will only be chasing an idea--your idea. Find what you seek within.

What I am

Unattached to all emotion, and thought, and perception, there is a constant energy that never changes, never comes and goes, never needs or expects. That is what you are, what I am.

Separate (journa entry)

I can only have a problem with something that I see as separate from what I think I am. Seeing it as separate creates a need to imagine a relationship between the "me" and the something. In that space between, much can happen, all imaginary as well.

Life, People, and Situations

Life, people, and situations...they are all the same. They are not cruel or kind, for you or against you, good or bad. They are all a projections of what you see as you.

What am I?

Is this not a better question than "Who am I?"

False Understanding

When we do not understand something we create a false understanding--or judgment--of it in our minds because the false self cannot live without an explanation or position.

Our True nature knows the joy and authentic adventure that comes with just living.

What to Do

He who asks "What shall I do?" has already a plan in mind.

Letting Go

"Letting go" is not an action, it is not something you can "do." It is the willingness to see and accept what is.

Thinking

You cannot see from the confines of your own thinking.

Illusions

Ideas are illusions. "Illusion" is just another word for "idea."

Being fearful of seeing the truth in this is also just an idea.

Needing

Only when you stop needing to know, will you know.

Direction

If the mind is looking for direction and instruction, it is likely to miss meaning and understanding.

Failure

You can only fail if you pretend to succeed.

Distraction

Do not be distracted by words, or teachings, or names.

Truth's Identity

When you identify your "way" of spirituality, you create more separation.

Truth does not have a way...or an identity. It is everything.

Bringing Peace

How can you bring peace to the world when you cannot even bring peace to your self?

How can you even wish peace for the world when you do not truly wish it for your self?

Love

True Love is not the opposite of anything...

Worry

No man worries against his own will.

Struggle

It is unnatural to struggle for peace and happiness.

Spiritual Sleepers

The greatest obstacle to waking up is the reality that you don't want to wake up but you think you want to wake up- or worse, think you are awake.

Presume you are asleep- if you are not, you won't be the least put off by the thought that you are sleeping because an awakened soul loves to learn about the sleeping self.

Striving

Striving, acquiring, and progressing will never satisfy you.

Not Knowing

Oh, the simple pleasure of not knowing...

Knowing Why You Seek

When you see that you seek Truth only to use it to your advantage, something will change and seeking will no longer be your captor. You will know a new freedom.

The Cost of Truth

The cost of Truth is only the false.

Right Action

Right action does not need your assistance.

Knowing

To know, but not to be changed by the knowledge, is to only dream that one knows.

Truth Within

Although it may appear as though we can see Truth (or truths) outwardly, we always realize them within.
